Awakening the Lioness: A Flourishing Journey

Using multifaceted dance, music, poetry, and the arts to rekindle parts of me that have been idle in order to become the woman that I am destined to be.

A year ago I entered the operating room to rid a bacterial infection with positivity, faith, and love knowing that God was going to get me out of the misery I was in. In April I entered the same operating room for the fourth time to rid the same infection, but this time I felt defeated, lost, angry and distressed. I’ve always known that I am a strong person, but what was God thinking? I was extremely angry with Him because I just couldn’t understand what He was putting me through. Lately I’ve tried to restore my relationship with Him and I’m still trying to accept everything that has happened to me. Needless to say, one year, five horrific scars over my stomach, and 162 pounds later, I can say that God wants me to live for a reason. Although I am still healing- yes, this last surgery was no joke- my doctor has finally said that he doesn’t want to see me for six months!!! I’ve been waiting for those words for so long! I just want to thank my family and friends for being there every step of the way, and although I didn’t show it, I was grateful. Mami always told me who checked up on me and all those messages were delivered. A big thanks to my mother who was an amazing, patient nurse even when the meds made me a little coo-coo for Cocoa Puffs and she still managed to be positive. Now I’m cleared to exercise- yoga soon to come- and get back in shape! Never in my life have I weighed so much and I’m so ready to get this weight off. Can you believe I’m considered obese? Blasphemy, I know! #RoadtoRecovery #LiveLoveLaugh #ThankYou #GodsChild #ImBringingMeBackButBetterThisTime

There is freedom waiting for you on the breezes of the sky, and you ask “What if I fall?” Oh but my darling, what if you fly?

What if you can fly?
